How it all started;-)

It is a cold winters night in December, I'm in bed reading my China groups posts when I read one that gets my attention. It says "Look at the beautiful children at _____ home that are waiting to be adopted"! I am curious and drawn to the site right away. We hadn't been talking about adopting but I had dreamt of Jade Lin having a Chinese sibling to share her life and adoption legacy with and a Chinese sibling she would have a life long bond with and a tie to China. So when I saw the photo of little Rebekkah, who was three and a SN toddler, my breath caught in my throat and I was awestruck! I showed her to my husband, Scott who was reading in bed and saw him stare and ponder her photo. He was silent for a long time just taking in the beautiful little girl in the photo. You could see the processing going on and the immediate attachment of this little girl come over his face. He said, "she is beautiful, see if we can adopt her"! which was much easier said then done. I immediately e-mailed the ____home and waited for a response which I thought would take days to receive. It was a matter of minutes when a reply came back that this little girl had heart surgery and was perfect but spoken for, her family was preparing to come and take her home. We were heart broken! I can't explain the grief we felt after just seeing this little girl's photo for only a matter of minutes. Today we are so grateful and blessed to have found Rebekkah that night. She opened our hearts to a special needs adoption and an adoption of a toddler. She set us on this path and journey to adopt a Mei-Mei. I know Rebekkah will never know but she had a huge impact and influence on many people that night and led many parent's on the path to adopt a special needs child. God is surely watching over this little girl. It is December 1st and we have decided to adopt again and a SN toddler. We are contacting our agency in the morning and so the journey begins;-)
